About Paul McQuade

I know what it's like to live with migraine

I'm Paul McQuade. I'm an osteopath and I've worked in Northern Ireland, London, Dublin and Canada. But my interest in migraine isn't simply professional. It's personal.

Why I developed The Migraine Guy treatment

I suffered from migraine myself, so I know how debilitating it can be. I know the pain, the disruption and the frustration of having something capable of interfering with your work, your relationships and the things you want to do with your life.

My own experience of migraine, combined with my work as an osteopath, led me to become increasingly interested in why it happens. Like many migraine sufferers, I knew there were things that could trigger an attack and ways of trying to manage the symptoms. But I became much more interested in a different question: what was happening in the first place?

That question eventually led me to develop The Migraine Guy treatment.

A career built around learning

I trained at the University of Surrey before gaining clinical experience in a busy practice in south London. My career subsequently took me to Belfast, Dundalk and Hamilton, Ontario, where I continued my osteopathic education and took up a teaching position at the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy.

That experience was particularly important to me. I had opportunities to learn from practitioners with different backgrounds and perspectives and it reinforced something I've always believed: as a healthcare professional, you should never stop learning, questioning and looking for better ways to help people.

After returning to Northern Ireland, I established my own osteopathic practice and continued my involvement in professional education. Through Osteopaths of Ireland and later Advance CPD, I helped develop training opportunities for osteopaths and other manual therapists, bringing practitioners together to learn from experienced educators from Ireland, the UK and North America.

From my own migraine to a different approach

I began investigating migraine through my understanding of the human body and by working on myself. Over time, I developed an approach which I used to treat my own migraine. I have now been migraine-free for nine years.

But that wasn't the end of the process. It was really the beginning. As I began working with other migraine sufferers, I continued to learn. I observed how people experienced migraine, how they responded to treatment and how I could develop and refine my approach.

Over the years, that work led me to what I believe is a consistent physiological starting point in many people who experience migraine with head pain. And from that work came The Migraine Guy treatment.

What I developed

The Migraine Guy treatment is my own non-invasive treatment system, developed and refined over many years. It is designed to be delivered in a single treatment session rather than through an ongoing programme of appointments, supplements or additional products.

I have now used my approach with more than 100 people and my confidence in The Migraine Guy treatment is grounded in the remarkable results I have seen over the years. People have reported reductions in the frequency and intensity of their migraines. Some have experienced an immediate improvement. Some have found that foods, drinks or other things which previously triggered an attack no longer do so. And I know of people whose improvements have continued for years.

I don't claim that everyone will respond in exactly the same way and I won't promise an outcome I can't guarantee. But I have seen enough positive results, over a long enough period, to have real confidence in what I have developed.

It's about more than migraine

For me, the real value of The Migraine Guy treatment isn't simply about reducing the number or severity of migraines someone experiences. It's about what that can give back to them.

Migraine can gradually begin to dictate how you live. You think twice about making plans. You worry about holidays or social occasions. It can affect work, relationships and family life. Even when you're feeling well, the possibility of the next migraine can still be sitting somewhere in the back of your mind.

I understand that because I've experienced it. And I know the difference it can make when migraine no longer has the same control over your life. That's why I believe so strongly in The Migraine Guy treatment.
